Caruso’s End of the Summer Housing Market Update!


 

Since we have come to an end of the summer I thought I would provideyou with an end of the summer real estate sales and inventory report. Specifics include Orange County and a look at how we compare to the National trends.

August 2011 Real Estate search results are in and Orange County, CA was the #16 most searched market in the country during August 2011. This is based on data released recently by Realtor.com, which is the #1 homes for sale Real Estate search web site.

The median list prices for homes in Orange County, CA hit $449,000 in August 2011, a -6.44% decrease from one year ago this month, and -0.22% decrease from July 2011.  The national median list price in August 2011 was $189,900, a 0.48% increase compared to August 2010.  The median decrease is a result of more homes selling in the lower price bands.

The active “for sale” inventory of homes in Orange County, CA in August 2011 leveled out at 15,828, a -12.10% decrease compared to August 2010.  The National inventory counts for August 2011 were 2,267,327, a -19.00% decrease as compared to a year ago.  

The median age of inventory in Orange County, CA in August was 87 days, a 1.16% increase compared to July 2011.  Nationally, the median age of inventory was 103 days, a 6.19% increase to July.

ANAHEIM

The National Down Syndrome Society is hosting the 2010 Buddy Walk from 9am-2pm this Sunday November 7 at Angel Stadium. Proceeds provide resources and support to people with Down syndrome. The cost is $25 for walkers age 11 and older and $15 for ages 3-10. For more information you can visit www.buddywalk.org.

Coming up November 19th from 9am-6pm and 20th from 9am-4pm is the Nutcracker Craft Boutique at the Brea Community Center (695 E Madison Way). This annual holiday event offers shoppers unique items perfect for the holiday season. There will be over 250 vendors on-site displaying and selling beautiful handcrafted holiday gifts, decorations, food and collectibles. Admission is $2 and parking is free. BUENA PARK

Coming up December 4th is the Candy CaneLand and Craft Fair. This year’s event will be held at Ehlers Community Center (8150 Knott Ave). Last year over 2,000 visitors attended the event and were treated to entertainment, food, games, a petting zoo, moonbounces, prizes, Santa Claus, and the ever-popular “snowslide.” The Craft Faire featured over 100 artisans who sold many unique crafts and goodies.  For information about this year’s event, call (714) 236-3860.

Coming up December 4th from 10am-5pm is The Winter Market (Wilshire Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue). The market will feature more than 40 vendors offering gifts for holiday shoppers, plus food booths, entertainment, and a tree-lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.  In addition, Fullerton Firefighters will be collecting toys for needy children for the “Spark of Love” program. GARDEN GROVE 

Coming up Saturday, December 4th from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM is 2010 Family WinterFest. The popular seasonal festival will be at Atlantis Play Center (13630 Atlantis Way). Two areas will be set up for winter fans to sled and play in 20 tons of snow. Additional activities include holiday arts and crafts, bounce houses, and trips around the park on the Polar Express train. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a special visit and stop for photos. Food will be available for purchase. WinterFest general admission tickets are $6. Children two years and under are free with an accompanying adult. Tickets are limited and only available through pre-sale. They can be purchased at the City’s Recreation counter located on the first floor of Garden Grove City Hall, at 11222 Acacia Parkway, beginning November 22. Bring a new, unopened toy for the Garden Grove Fire Department Association’s “Spark of Love” toy drive and receive $2 off the admission price. Limit one toy per ticket. Coming up on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., is the La Palma Days Parade and prestigious Band Review which will feature over 200 units including junior and senior high school bands, JROTC units, veterans, military entries, celebrities, dignitaries, elected officials, local schools, clubs and organizations, businesses, the Orange County Fire Authority, and others – all parading down Walker Street, from Houston to La Palma Avenue!

PLACENTIA

Thursday November 11, Placentia honors the brave men and women who serve and protect this great nation. Join us in the Placentia Civic Center Courtyard as we listen to engaging testimony of the very people that have defended our freedom. The ceremony will conclude with refreshments and the unveiling of the new names inscribed on our Placentia Veterans Monument.
