Visions of sugarplums will dance in your head after seeing Tchaikovsky’s delightful Christmas ballet – performed in a condensed version created just for kids. This seasonal favorite finishes with a grand holiday finale and is sure to sell out! Tomorrow starting at 5:00pm until 8:30pm will be the Annual Tree Lighting! The City of Fountain Valley and the Recreation & Community Services Division invites you to the FREE annual Tree Lighting at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center and Sports Park (16400 Brookhurst Street). The City of Fountain Valley Mayor will have the honor of lighting the tree with a special guest from the North Pole followed by an extravagant FIREWORKS SHOW sponsored by the Fountain Valley Community Foundation. The event will also include live entertainment, crafts, games, pictures with Santa $2, and much more. Bring your appetite; Fountain Valley’s local organizations food vendors will be available for you to purchase their goodies.
Sunday, December 5th from 4:00-7:00pm is the Holiday Parade and Pier Lighting! Come celebrate the beginning of the holiday season at the Light a Light of Love Celebration. Activities will include a children’s parade on Main Street, entertainment at Pier Plaza, Taste of Main Street and a snowflake lighting ceremony at the pier. The parade will start at Orange and Main St. and will end at the Pier Plaza. After the parade, the entertainment will begin at the Pier Plaza. While at the Plaza, Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be available for children to take pictures!
Starting December 11 through 24 is The Nutcracker” At the Barclay Theater. This full-length, traditional production is choreographed and directed by Festival Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director Salwa Rizkalla, and features a cast of professional dancers along with more than 100 Southern California children. Starting Dec 11, 2010 – Jan 2, 2011 is the Discovery Science Center Presents: Science of Gingerbread. Discovery Science Center’s The Science of Gingerbread exhibition features hands-on kitchen science activities, decorating demonstrations and award-winning gingerbread houses on display. Who knew science could be so tasty? In addition, don’t miss The Great Trains, an exhibit for everyone who enjoys building, operating, or simply watching scale model railroads. TODAY, December 3rd is the Annual Holiday Parade! The 30th Annual Christmas Parade of Seal Beach is along Main Street. There are bands representing schools from Marina, Ocean View, Los Alamitos and more. Boy Scouts and Girls Scout Troops from all over the area will be represented. The parade begins promptly at 7:00 pm along Main Street starting at Ocean Avenue and proceeding to PCH. Do some Christmas shopping and have cocktails and/or dinner before and after the parade. Coming up December 12th is the Great Inland Boat Parade and Holiday Celebration. The parade will begins at Villa Park High School at 18042 Taft Ave., ending about 6:30 p.m. in the Villa Park Shopping Center on Santiago Boulevard, where holiday festivities will continue.
