Tips….What to do and what not to do on your website.

Do make sure each page in your website has something of Content to offer.

Content is King. Provide something that’s useful or interesting to visitors. If your page doesn’t have that, then you must fix that problem right away, before you worry about designing it. What is it you want them to see, read or buy? What are you offering the reader and what do you want them focused on. If it’s your services…then make it easy and interesting for them to want to do business with you, put the content on the home page in an organized system with images.

Do try to be inventive with what you create.

There is no sense in copying another website when you could improve upon it, and convert some of their existing ideas, to make yours more successful and unique.

Don’t annoy your visitors with pop-up windows.

Nobody likes pop-ups, they can become annoying and it shouws your reader that you are more interested in your needs than theirs. Most will will never come back to visit your site.

Don’t use more than one exclamation point!

Typing several exclamation points does not make your text seem any more important than just one. In fact, rather than conveying urgency, what multiple exclamation marks really portray is amateurish or desperate for you to believe something!

Don’t underline words if they’re not links.

If you underline, readers will be annoyed when they try to click on those underlined words only to discover that they’re not really links. If you want to emphasize something, use italics, boldface, or another color.

Don’t put music on your site.

This is a very annoying feature, and not everyone has the same music style. Unless the vistor can turn the music off, hearing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” or “Single Ladies” over and over again, will probably make the person leave your site, because they won’t be able to take it anymore.
