Coming up October 7 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Orange County Fairgrounds is an event that recognizes Officers and Employees of the Costa Mesa Police Department, Fire Department & 911 Communications Center. On duty or off duty all are invited to attend to enjoy lunch and free raffle drawing. Everyone is welcome to attend; Costa Mesa Police, Fire, and Communications Personnel: No Charge and Chamber and Community members: $10. Tomorrow October 2 from 10:00am-6pm is the Irvine Global Village Festival at Bill Barber Park (adjacent to the Irvine Civic Center). Admission is FREE. The Irvine Global Village Festival welcomes more than 13,000 guests to celebrate Irvine’s cultural diversity and experience sights, sounds, and tastes of the world representing upwards of 50 cultures. Guests enjoy the mosaic of music and dance on five stages; immerse themselves in cultural and religious displays; indulge in international cuisine; and shop in the world marketplace. This family focused event tantalizes tots with hands-on art projects, games, puppet shows, and activities in a giant, interactive Kids Village. Take the shuttles or bike to the festival – this is the easiest way to get to the event. There will be 44 restaurants selling “tastings.”$1.00 Food Tasting Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event; tasting item prices range from 1 to 3 tickets with some restaurants offering multiple tastings on one plate with corresponding tickets requested. Close to 100 performances happening on 5 stages, the Martial Arts area, roving entertainment, and Kids on the Green Theater.

October 9th is the 7th Annual Survive and Thrive Run/Walk Health & Safety Expo held from 7:00am to 12:00pm at the Orange County Sheriff Regional Training Academy(15991 Armstrong Ave). The purpose of this event is to bring awareness, prevention and survival to all surrounding communities while offering resources and services to victims of crime so they may walk away empowered with the tools to survive and thrive. This event is also a fund-raising opportunity for Crime Survivors, Inc. to help support our programs.  All proceeds raised by this event will go directly to programs for Crime Survivors, Inc. Registration begins at 7:00 am. Admission Fee: $25 pre registration / $30 day of registration which includes: Shirt, Goody Bag, Medal, Entertainment and Food and Drinks. The Villa Park High School Choir Booster Club is hosting the 2010 Fall Boutique from 9am-2pm Saturday October 23rd at the High School. The boutique features hand-made crafts, original paintings, apparel, holiday décor and much more! For more information you can call 714-615-9573.
