Caruso Says…

Life is hectic. Sometimes we’re so focused on our jobs and everyday life that we don’t just stop and sit for a moment. There are different reasons why we get so caught up in our daily lives but we need to remember that it is always important to take some time for yourself and relax.
Some managers and business owners skipped their vacations last year (and maybe the year before) because they felt the operation couldn’t run without them. It’s not a good idea for several reasons. First, everyone needs time off to relax and recharge. Second, those who are next in line to run the business become disappointed because you apparently have no faith in them. And third too much work can drive anyone crazy at some point.

So when you do finally take time off, really take it. Don’t work all day on your BlackBerry, advises writer Carol Hymowitz because really your not relaxing when your typing away on your phone. One retired CEO says managers should not make themselves indispensible. Managers should take a week or two off instead of three-day weekends. The people in place to run the show while they’re gone have been trained to do it and should have the opportunity to show that they can. Thats why we hire staff right? However, that doesn’t mean managers should be out of touch completely. Emergencies still require attention. Just decide what they really are.

So stop. Sit back. And go take that long needed vacation. Trust me you’ll be happy you took it in the end.

And thank you for making me Your Orange County Real Estate Connection
