Saturday April 3, 2010 HB will host its 20th annual Easter Egg Hunt! The hunt begins at 9:30am from children 8 years and up at Central Park. The admission is FREE. There will also be face painting, food booths and pictures with the Easter bunny! For more information call 714-536-5486

Do you have trouble taking tests? You’re in luck. The Recreation and Community Services Department is offering students a test taking skills class. The class is $43 which also includes a supply fee. The class starts April 24, 2010 from 9:30-11:30am. For more information call 562-430-1073


Are you looking for a weekend of Easter events?? Look no farther! Starting Friday April 2, 2010 Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort will host its 18th annual Easter weekend celebration through Sunday, April 4. The weekend of family events will include a hunt for more than 6,000 Easter eggs hidden on the beach, a visit by the Easter Bunny, bounce houses, craft sessions, egg decorating, a sunrise church service, cottontail bike parade and an endless Champagne brunch. Friday, children can decorate their own baskets using flowers, seashells, ribbons and other materials at 10 a.m. After finishing a fun-filled scavenger hunt, they will continue the festivities with an afternoon of egg decorating where they can dye, glitter and paint thousands of Easter eggs starting at 1 p.m. On Saturday, April 3, guests may start the day with a massive Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. before heading off to a pancake breakfast .Children from the community are invited to search the resort’s beachfront and grassy knolls for more than 6,000 eggs scattered about will be several “hidden treasure” eggs containing cash as well as a special egg redeemable for a brand new bicycle. Easter Sunday, will begin at 7 a.m. with a sunrise service overlooking the bay. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be an extravagant Champagne brunch buffet which will be served at the Dunes’ Back Bay Bistro where guests can enjoy endless Champagne and Mimosas. The brunch will feature an array of breakfast options. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling (949) 729-1144 or visiting The Easter festivities will conclude Sunday afternoon with a Cottontail Bike Parade where families staying at the resort can decorate their bikes and take part in an afternoon group ride around scenic Newport Bay.


Sunday April 4, 2010 the OCFA Reserve Firefighters will be hosting their annual pancake breakfast from 7am to noon. There will also be an egg hunt for children. For more information on prices and location please call 714-649-2211 or 714-649-2213

Is your dog giving you trouble? Good news! The Recreation and Community Services Department is offering a dog obedience class for dogs 6 months and older. The first class will be held without your dog. Classes are held April 15-June 3 on Thursdays at 6:30pm. For more information call 562-431-2527 ext. 1344


Battle of the Bands! The city will be hosting auditions for a lucky band to play at the annual Street Fair and Chili Cook-off June 6. Applications are due April 19 and auditions are April 25, 2010. For more information visit or call 714-573-3346
