The city has announced that $500,000 is available in Irvine Educational Partnership grants for public school districts or nonprofit educational partners. The city council’s recent approval of a 24 percent fee increase for an array of services will have a notable effect on Building Department costs. Officials said the increase protects the community from having to subsidize services used by a small number of people. The increase takes effect Nov. 8.
