Paunch Increases Alzheimers Risk…
I don’t need any more incentives to lose weight, but I couldn’t resist looking at this report.
Researchers already knew that being overweight during your middle years could lead to developing dementia later, but this new study is more precise in where that fat is concentrated and what can happen…
Having a “belly” in your 40s can boost your risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia decades later. The abdominal fat, sometimes described as making people apple-shaped rather than pear-shaped has already been linked to a higher risk of developing diabetes, stroke and heart disease. Participants in the study with normal body weight and high belly measurements were 89 percent more likely to have dementia.
While it’s not clear why abdominal fat would promote dementia, it may be that it pumps out substances that harm the brain.
See ya later…I gotta get to the gym…………..
